HTC software free update

HTC software free update  - From time to time, HTC may release software updates for your phone. If you bought your phone from your mobile operator, the operator may notify you directly of software updates. Otherwise, you can check on the HTC website for software updates.

There are three kinds of software update:

     - ROM upgrade. This completely replaces the built-in software of your phone (sometimes called firmware). ROM upgrades often enhance your phone in a number of ways, such as extending its features, making it easier to use, and improving its performance.
       - Update. An update is a small program that enhances or fixes one aspect of your phone's software. This kind of update is sometimes called a patch.
        - Application. Sometimes HTC provides additional programs on the software download area for your phone.

Whichever kind of software update you are downloading, you need to download it to your computer before you can install it on your phone. ROM upgrades are only possible from a Windows computer.

Checking the HTC website for downloads

    1. On your computer, go to www.htc.com.
    2. Click Support.
    3. Select your phone model.

Support resources for your phone are displayed. If there are any available software updates, they are listed under Software Download. To find out more information about a software update, click the Download link for that software update. On the subsequent page, you will find instructions for downloading and installing the software update.

Preparing for a ROM upgrade
If you have downloaded a ROM upgrade, you need to do some preparation before you install it to your phone.

Upgrading your phone's ROM completely erases all your personal data and customized settings as well as any programs you have installed on your phone. Make sure you back up any important data first. For information on ways of doing backups, see the following articles:

    - Synchronizing With Outlook on Your Computer
    - Backing Up Your Phone Using Microsoft My Phone

When you are ready to install the ROM upgrade, make sure that your phone battery is at least 50% charged. Make sure that automatic standby and hibernation are disabled on your computer, and close all running programs. Follow the instructions provided with the ROM upgrade installer to install and run the software update. For detailed installation and troubleshooting instructions, on the welcome screen of the ROM upgrade installer, click View Readme.

It is very important that you do not disconnect your phone from your computer while the phone software is being updated. If you disconnect the phone during the software update, it may become unusable. To ensure smooth running of the ROM upgrade installer and an uninterrupted connection, do not open or close any programs on your computer while the software update is in progress.
